Crop Diagnostic Clinic, at Paniyankadawala
on 30th of July 2019
A Crop Diagnostic clinic was conducted by the students and staff members of the Department of Plant Sciences (Agriculture Biology) on 30th of July 2019 at Paniyankadawala village temple. This program was jointly organized by the National Institute of Post Harvest Management, Anuradhapura and the event was started at 8.30 in the morning and continued up to 2.00 pm. The aim of this clinic was to make aware the farmers in the area on most prevailing pest and disease injuries in their cultivations. About forty school students also participated in this program enabling them to gather real practical experiences related to the pest & disease diagnostics. Our Undergraduates were involved in the identification of the disease-infested specimens and giving appropriate recommendations to control those problems while sharing some experiences of the farmers.
This clinic was planned to expose the undergraduates to practical oriented, problem-based learning environments and which was a good opportunity for them to expose into real problems faced by the farmers in the field of plant protection.
